Terminal Illness
Short poem about my fathers recently diagnosed terminal illness and the thoughts and fears it's managed to provoke. A parent is possibly one of the closest relations one could loose, the mere prospect of it was enough to give me reason to write this poem about my fear of loosing a loved one.
My fathers taken ill cancer can kill prescribing just one more pill
Heavens gate my fathers next wait it comes to all this enevitable fate
Prostate cancer what to answer skiping through books like a ballet dancer
Try to pretend cant see the end hoping my fathers ok and will mend
Such a raw deal this lifes a cold meal ripped out my heart was starting to heal
Dads dying wish to see me enlist fight the damn war thats got people so pissed
The watch and the wait seems to be my fate i'd glady take his place at the gate
News to pass round family not long please gather around tears well up without a sound
Fear of time uncontrolled and not mine without my father i will surely pine
Just how to say i love you please stay and dont go away if only just another day
